Just Do it: 5 Reasons You Should Exercise

Exercise is one of the most important aspects of human life, and it is essential to living your best possible life. Here are 5 of the top reasons we should incorporate a degree of exercise to our everyday lives:

1. Mental Clarity

Life is hard, that is a given. The clutter of the mind is an obstacle that should absolutely not be underestimated, and we need to make an active effort to eliminate this clutter as swiftly as possible.

By exercising each day, you develop a clearer mind as your mind and body begin to work together to get the blood pumping in and out of your heart. As a result, your ability to problem-solve becomes far more efficient, and any trivial problems that you were previously dwelling on are easily eradicated, as the brain is now only taking in what is essential, as it works to keep the body and heart alive and well.

2. Health and Wellbeing

In today’s world, accessibility to sugary foods and drink are so readily available, and it is easy to lose track of how the consumption of such things are affecting your ability to work on the things that matter most to you. For instance, someone who is feeling lethargic from eating too much junk food will make an excuse for themselves to not exercise, as the brain detects that it is far easier to receive a dopamine hit by continuing to eat high sugar foods rather than to work for it.

The problem with this is an increased dependency on food and drink that is damaging your body and your life. It is essential to exercise to put the sugars you have consumed to good use. Not only will this increase your ability to breakdown these fats from junk food, but it will also make you crave these unhealthy options alot less, as the “feel good” neurons of the brain as a result of exercise is a far more addictive feeling, once achieved, than the dopamine quick-fix produced from sugar-hits and junk.

3. Physical Weightlessness

When we feel heavy, that is, when we feel like we have to put in effort to make our bodies move all the time, rather than effortlessly command our bodies to act towards our goals, it can have detrimental effects on our spirits and willpower. We quickly make excuses for taking “another day off” or postponing a meaningful activity, because of how we feel in the moment.

Exercise is the key for eliminating these negative feelings and thought-patterns, because the barrier between mind and body is broken down, causing a harmonious balance where your entire being can now work for the sole purpose of achieving your goals.

4. Overcoming Fear

The feeling of physical and mental weightlessness gained from exercising will propel you to heights you never knew existed, as many of your previous fears become laughable at your newfound mindset. Things or events that previously gave provoked anxiety in you are now seen as exciting challenges that you look forward to overcoming and putting yourself to the test.

Exercising literally makes you see things clearer, as the toxins which obstruct your vision are minimised and burnt away, making ordinary everyday views seem far more engaging and bright. This increases your overall optimism and attitudes towards your problems, setting your mind up for success.

5. Becoming your Best Self

There is no denying humans are designed to exercise just as much as they are designed to use their brains. It is more important than ever to be vigilant about keeping this harmonious balance between the mind and body going, as they complement each other in countless ways.

Being able to detach yourself from the mental struggles of everyday life, and then to return with a stronger and clearer mind will enable you to see what is most important in your life. Keeping a regular routine of exercise each day will let you face your challenges as your best self, leaving very little room for regrets and guilt, as you focus more on working towards the person you were always meant to be.
